High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery.
Our hospital is equipped with an endoscope that allows non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of a variety of medical problems. We are often able to use endoscopy instead of surgery to reduce hospital stay, discomfort for your pet, and cost. We have been offering this service for over 20 years.
Endoscopy can be useful in certain conditions, including:
Gastric foreign body: If your pet swallows something that it should not have, we may be able to remove it from the stomach without surgery.
Tracheal foreign body: If your pet inhales a large object that is stuck in the airway, endoscopy can be used to remove it non-invasively and quickly.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Similar to ‘Irritable Bowel Syndrome’ in humans, this disease is common in both dogs and cats.
Cancer or tumors of the esophagus, stomach, first part of the small intestine, colon and rectum: Endoscopy allows us to take samples of your pet’s intestinal tract without surgery and often pets are discharged the same day
We offer Digital X-Ray which allows our doctors to view images in less than 60 seconds after x-ray exposure utilizing the highest image processing resolution available! Digital xrays may be e-mailed directly to a specialist, referring veterinarian or an organization such as OFA. We can also provide a copy of the x-ray on a CD.
